Fashion works in seasons. Despite Mother Nature challenging this process, we do still have two seasons in this industry with one being Spring Summer and the other being Fall Winter. I’ve just returned from London where I have been viewing new collections for the boutiques and talking to current brands we stock and giving them feedback on what the “sisterhood” like us to stock.
The crazy thing is, I am ordering for SS15 and we don’t yet know if that will be a winner or a washout. The first thing I keep in mind is my customers. You are a very loyal bunch and that makes me even more passionate about sourcing the right pieces that you just don’t find on the High Street. Yes we all love a bit of River Island and a bargain from H&M but you really cannot beat the thrill of a “find” in a boutique. It can sometimes be a necklace, maybe a scarf, the “must have” winter coat or the dress you have to have, even though you have nowhere to go, that’s the thrill of a boutique.
My job is complete when I see people wearing brands I introduce them to. Luckily on this most recent trip I found a really cool little scarf company from Sheffield and I quickly signed them up as a new supplier, knowing that you girls will love the quirky prints and the glamorous feel they add to your look. I love an accessory as they update an outfit instantly and can really alter the look of a plain outfit.
